au revoir simone live

another day, another useless but interesting fact i learn on everyones best friend wikipedia. today, i learned that au revoir simone, the non-french synth pop group featured in today’s post, provided some background vocals for “paris” by friendly fires. surely you remember that song from a post a few weeks ago, right? i thought you would. id always sort of wondered who the female voices were in that song, and now i know. id also heard the aeroplane remix and wondered what that was all about since the verses are almost exclusively female voices, and was surprised to find out that these were actually some of the vocals on the original song. pretty neato.

id heard of and about au revoir simone for quite some time but never really listened to them at all until i started hearing todays song “shadows” here and there the past few weeks. its one of those songs that is kind of upbeat but still pretty mellow and could just as easily be sung slowly as a ballad and still been a great song. after listening to a few more tracks off their newest album “still night still light”, im coming to the conclusion that this is the tone of many of their songs, which means i should probably give them a good listen and that i will probably like them if i explore their other works a little more in depth. it also makes me want to get a synthesizer, mostly so i can play the all day long. but probably not as intensely as that person, and id probably just stick to the original and not make up my own variations like that person, because im not exceptionally creative. anyway, please enjoy “shadows” by au revoir simone.
