a new track by radiohead! well, new as of about a week ago. yes, im sure youve all heard it by now anyway and im lame for even mentioning it at this point, but it would be irresponsible of me as a music blogger to not mention it, even if its just over a week old and already old news. perhaps whats most interesting about this song is the weird series of events surrounding it. ill try to summarize, but theyre all laid out on rawk blog in great detail. heres what we know for sure: the track was leaked some time last week or over the weekend, but nobody really knew how or where it came from. then there were rumors that there was going to be some new EP called wall of ice released this past monday (which didnt happen, but they did post the song on their official blog this past monday), then someone purchased the domain name of the alleged EP and posted telling people not to post just to get hits to their site. what a weirdo. seems a little extreme if you ask me, but read the full story at the link above.

as for the song itself, ive given it a few listens now and i think i like it. it sounds like it may have fit pretty well on amnesiac, but i cant really tell you what im basing that on because i dont really know. i hope this means that theres some sort of new album in the works, but i think i read an article a few days ago where thom yorke said they werent going to be releasing anything new for a while. so hopefully my memory is bad, or thom yorke is a liar, because its been two years since in rainbows and we want some more. give us some more. we just cant handle iiiiiiit. <-- that will make more sense if you hear the song i guess. ok, so now after another listen i think this song reminds me a tiny bit like it could be a distant relative of "dollars and cents" and i like that song a lot. and after that listen, i can confidently say that i like this song, mostly because its as mysterious as the circumstances surrounding its leak and subsequent internet banter. but isnt that the true radiohead way? so please go ahead and listen to the mysterious and controversy-laden track below, even though the chances are strong to quite strong that youve already heard it and are already soooo over it.
