jarvis cocker – angela

in keeping with this weeks theme, we bring you a track from jarvis cocker, better known as the former frontman of classic indie rockers pulp. the track is “angela” from his second solo album “further complications” which was released earlier this year and is the most common of this weeks chick names. im trying to figure out what angelas job is. do you have any idea based on the clues in the lyrics? either way, she is clearly not as high class as the chick in “common people”, who just seems to be a real high class broad. or maybe angela is a high class broad living in the body of a lower class broad. regardless, its a great little rock song with a great little guitar riff throughout.

All I know is that she’s young (“nearly 23″) and an object of desire (“Oohh you blew my mind”) of a middle aged man. He’s the narrator, so yeah, middle aged.
I’m not feeling good about Angela’s job. “4.15 an hour???” “complimentary showers???” Knowing Jarvis’ skeevy nature, we’ll assume, she’s a massage parlor girl, not the therapeutic massage kind but the one that gives “extra” or happy endings (“I feel the sap rising tonight. A dry stick at the end of a branch,…overzealous hand”). Jarvis?!? You naughty boy.
This single sounds unfinished. I’ve heard this one before but I thought this was longer. I hope he makes a sequel to this. I wanna know what happened to Angela after all the rising sap. Ewwww.
