aside from not covering much hip hop (until a few weeks back that is), another musical note that i havent really touched is metal. and because we are all about diversity, thats all about to change today. this track was first introduced to me by mr. gt collins a few weeks back and it was love at first listen (even though its really 100% novelty, but great, well played and technically-sound novelty). its a heavy metal cover of every theme from the classic nintendo video game “contra” by the hilariously named vomitron, which is quite possibly the greatest band name in the history of history. we dont really know too much about vomitron except that they released an album back in 2007 and that theyve got heavy metal versions of many other classic soundtracks, like the legend of zelda (both I and II), castlevania, and songs like “ghostbusters” and “eye of the tiger”. when you listen to this, it sounds almost as if the music was written to be played by a metal band, and they really shred away on this one. hopefully this rockin version will remind you of a simpler time when all you had to worry about was how you were going to beat the boss on level 3. and if you are too young for this song to invoke memories of playing contra as a child, then may god have mercy on your soul.
