brazils gui boratto released one of my favorite tracks of 2009, the ebbing and flowing “no turning back”. he does a great job of managing listener expectations. things always seem to start out a bit slower, so that you know right away not to expect an 8 minute banger. but then they unexpectedly build up, giving you that nice surprise in the middle that you didnt know you were hoping for, and then just as suddenly he backs off again.

the same is true of this remix of “paradise circus” off the latest massive attack album “heligoland”. althuogh it doesnt turn into as much of a dancer as some other boratto tracks, it definitely has its fair share of welcome highs and lows and becomes really unexpectedly beautiful in the last few minutes, all while maintaining the eerie integrity of the original song. i think mr boratto needs to come to the states some time soon.

I must admit I wasn’t that into the new massive attack album when I listened to it, but I am very much enjoying this remix. Thanks for sharing.
