There are millions of songs that bring the heat, and there are millions of songs that bring the funk, but I don’t think there are quite as many that bring both at the same time. And when you listen to the appropriately titled “The Motion” by Duck Sauce, you might feel like I did, that you’ve just found one of those songs that delivers the 1-2 punch.
When I read the band name, while it sounded delicious, I didn’t really know who or what it was. But then when I found out that it’s an Armand Van Helden and A-Trak project, I was first ashamed that I hadn’t heard about this or remembered hearing about this, but then the fantastic track I was listening to made a lot more sense. Make sure you wait for the funky melody to come in before you say something like, “This guy is on crack. There’s no funk to be had and I’m already 30 seconds into the song. I don’t know why I come here anyway.” Just don’t do that, OK?
