So here I sit on this lowly weeknight going through my disaster of an inbox, one that I clearly do not keep up with, listening to all, deleting many, and enjoying some. And then I came across these tunes from Korallreven and the night suddenly was a bit less lowly. The group is made up of Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder and the project somehow started on the island of Samoa a few years back, even though I don’t think either of these guys live there. But it sounds pretty much what I imagine that Pacific island to look like. Yes, I think the island of Samoa looks like a quasi-chillwave/dreamwave/whateveryouwanttocallitwave song. But I’ve never been there so I don’t know. I also don’t know what Korallreven means, but I do think that we will be hearing it a bit more often after some more people here these tunes. I think these tunes are from their first single, so more goodness to come, we hope.
