Are you surprised that I’m posting a real-life song and not another remix? Me too! When the mood hits you, it just hits you. Drivan is the project of Swedes Kim Hiorthøy, Lisa Östberg and Louise Peterhoff and Kristiina Viiala of Finland. “Det gör ingenting” is the first track released from Drivan’s debut album Disko, released on 8/18 and if you are a fan of Scandinavian quasi-minimalist electronic tunes, you need to listen to this one. I think I would file this under one of the most soothing songs I’ve heard in a while (but don’t mistake “soothing” for “boring” or “without a beat”) with its simple piano and guitar melodies which are laid over with constantly changing electronic samples. Even though this track clocks in at almost 6 minutes, it’s so fluid and ever-changing that you don’t even notice. It almost reminds me of Caribou’s “Sun” in that sense. Essentially the same theme repeated over and over in different ways, always keeping it fresh.
In fact, go ahead and listen to it twice, or even thrice. I think it will catch you the second time around if not the first.
