Day 3. Ah, day 3. You cruel temptress, with your best lineup ever when you know that I barely have the energy left to make it there in the first place. I knew day 3 would be a great and exhausting day, but I don’t think I really had any idea how right I would be. I think I caught a at least a little of every act save 3 or 4 that day and I have the pictures to prove it. Things I learned on day 3 (plus a whole boatload of pictures from day 3):
- Festival days feel a lot longer when you actually arrive when they start.
- Peter from Here We Go Magic and Joe from Bear in Heaven are some cool mofos. You’ll be hearing more from them shortly.
- Victoria Legrand is becoming the Stevie Nicks of my generation with her deep, sultry voice and the fact that her hair always blows in the breeze, even when there is no breeze. Is my admiration for her becoming creepy?
- Major Lazer does not fuck around, and they are some bad ass pimps and hoes (and I mean that in a totally respectful and endearing way). I want to party with them, but I know I can’t hang. I gave the main dancing gal a high five because I had to.
- My suspicions that Local Natives are best seen in a shaded outdoor setting (like the smallest Coachella tent and the Pitchfork Balance Stage) have been confirmed.
- Ryan from Pitchfork – we get it, you like Pavement. Just let them start playing. I hope there was some non self gratifying reason he stalled for almost 10 minutes.
- Speaking of Pavement, it’s bass player wins the easiest to photograph sleeper pick award. I don’t remember him being very animated (guess I wasn’t paying too much attention) but I seem to have caught some great reactions from him.
- Same goes for Alexis Krauss of Sleigh Bells, although I definitely do remember that about her, and she wasn’t really a sleeper pick to begin with.
- I always forget how much I love Outkast jams
- It can torentially downpour minutes before a festival starts and anybody who wasn’t there when it happened will be none the wiser.
I took a lot of pictures on day 3. I hope you will look at them all. And like I said, you can always go to our flickr page for even more.
