You know what’s so great about Cee-Lo Green? Besides his many musical projects where he creates such great original music, he uses that killer voice of his for all kinds of great cover tracks. I first remember hearing this phenomenon first hand at Lollapalooza 2008 as we walked away from the Gnarls Barkley performance to catch an act on the other side of the park, only to be serenaded by their great rendition of Radiohead’s “Reckoner”. Let me tell you, that voice projected across most of the park, and it was good. Check out the amateur video below.

While that song was exclusively live, the focus of our attention today is on a studio cover of the Band of Horses classic track “No One’s Gonna Love You”, off Cee-Lo’s upcoming album Lady Killer. He takes this track, originally more of a ballad, and gives it a much welcome electronic/dance twist (and is that a sort of dubstep beat I hear in there?). Cee-Lo could release a whole album of covers and I wouldn’t even mind.

Great video……Cee-lo’s voice is incredibly powerful….Wish more artists would vary their stuff the way my fellow Atlantan does……This guy along with Outkast is what really kicked off Southern hip-hop/funk….and the world thanks him for it.
