File this one under “dark and atmospheric jams that must be enjoyed through headphones discovered via random cryptic email”. Yes, that’s right, this dark as night but awesome jam from Toronto’s VLSONN, that’s pretty much all I know about this person, arrived in my inbox with not much of any sort of explanation. Yes, it’s often these most simple emails that are most likely to catch my attention. And boy am I glad I clicked on the link in this one. This tune samples all kinds of random speeches (probably where the title “Cold War Politics” comes into play) over a really nice beat (which doesnt hit full force until the second minute of the song with a heavy beat that gets totally lost without some headphones. In fact, the darkness and the bass of this song remind me ever so slightly of that facking awesome Trentemoller remix of Modeselektor that we posted recently (not really in sound as in mood). So listen to it and dig it, if you will. And if you know any more about this VLSONN character, let us know, because we like him or her based on what we’ve heard so far.
