Besides this being one of the longest post titles that we can remember off the top of our heads, it’s also one of the most Friday appropriate tunes we’ve posted recently (one that I want to listen to over and over and over), and also one of the least likely combinations. And that’s what we love so much about it. It’s no secret that Tame Impala’s modern take on a classic sound is one of our favorite things to come out of 2010, and what better way to modernize it even more than for the great Erol Alkan to work his magic on it, accentuating the existing beats and bringing them to the forefront. It doesn’t start out remarkably different and I for one thought it was going to be one of those subtle remixes, but boy was I wrong. Sure, the meat and bones of the song remain unchanged, but, damn, when that guitar riff comes in with the beats, it’s just a great moment. If you would have told me that there was the potential to include Tame Impala in some sort of dance party before I heard this track, I never would have believed you, remix or not. And just as he so often does, Alkan transforms the song completely without really changing much at all, and it only gets bigger and bigger as the song goes on. Which begs the question — if this is the radio edit, where’s the full version and how do I get my hands on it?

Speaking of getting my hands on things, I’m pretty sure that the next record I will purchase, probably online right after I hit “Save Draft” on this, will be Innerspeaker

Tame Impala – Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind (Erol Alkan Rework) Radio Edit by Erol Alkan
