I’ve been waiting a long time to hear this song. It first popped up in my twitter feed yesterday morning and I instantly couldn’t wait to listen to it, but work got in the way and it wasn’t until 9pm when I finally got home that I got to give it a listen. I was supposed to go see Deerhoof last night all by myself, too. It was going to be sort of a valentine’s day gift to myself, a sort of triumphant celebration of weird music and the fact that I’m comfortable enough to do these things on my own and still have a good time without having to buy someone flowers or an expensive dinner (money which I’d rather spend on buying records for myself), but none of that happened, thanks to work getting in the way. Luckily, I finally got to listen to this track from Beach Fossils and Jack Tatum aka Wild Nothing
(who happens to be playing this Friday night in Chicago with Abe Vigoda, a show I really want to go to but I’m sure I won’t, mostly because it’s in Chicago), and it was just as much lo fi goodness as I’d hoped for. I’ve been hearing a lot about the awesomeness of this upcoming Beach Fossils EP entitled What A Pleasure, presumably because it’s such a pleasure to listen to, much like this song. These two acts make great music together. And were just what I needed to cool my head after an exceptionally painful day.
