This is a nice little tune from Murfreesboro, Tennessee’s very own German Error Message, which is actually a sort of solo project of Paul Kintzing where he writes a bunch of tunes and then plays and records them with a bunch of friends. I’ve seen this music described as experimental folk, and while that doesn’t really come through in this tune, I’m currently listening to a few more tunes from his recently released album After The Warmth (which I’m really digging, by the way) and it’s becoming more clear. It’s sort of straight up folk music, but there’s this certain delicious lo-fi folk (not to be confused with lo-fi-fnk) element to it that I obviously am automatically drawn to. So, like I said, you can listen to/buy his newest album After The Warmth (which is pretty neat) on his bandcamp page, the same location that you can download his free 2010 album To Carry Alongside. As much as I wish I did it more often, I can’t say that I always listen to an entire album after digging one track that I get via email, but I just did that, so there.

  1. Really digging the folk music approach. Iwas not into it all that deep in the past but my confidence was restored by artists such as Brett Dennan and Josh Ritter who really bring it home. This kid has potential, but it really comes down to the lyrics in folk, and if you can relate or not.
