Ok, I’m not a huge fan of “mashups” these days. I still like them sometimes but most of the time they just feel really cheesy and don’t really “bring anything new to the table”. But Moranis, whoever he is, does a pretty good job of changing all that with his beautiful mashup of Whitney Houston’s “How WIll I Know” (sped up just a bit…) with Star Slinger‘s “Copulate”. A totally great track all on it’s own. But in some ways, the combination of these two tracks gives something bigger than the sum of it’s already enormous parts (that’s what she said). Good job to Whitney Houston for once being really great. Remember when Whitney Houston was like the musical queen of the world? And good job to Star Slinger for generally being pretty awesome and for making this song and all the others. And good job to Moranis for having the vision to put these two together. My first thought when it started was like “Oh great, another sped up vocals dance track”. So I was basically really, really surprised at what it turned into. Even though I knew “Copulate” was a slow burn, I was still thrown off by the start.

Ok, so maybe I’m totally over exaggerating. Maybe it’s just because it’s been so long since I liked a mashup a lot. But really, it’s kinda good, or at least better than you think it will be.
