Holy cow! Can you believe this is already the 10th edition of Hypem Hunting? That’s pretty awesome, mostly because I usually give up on things pretty easily. It’s a lot of work to keep this segment up and running, but it’s one of my favorites so I’m happy to do it each week (usually taking place on Sunday night…a nice way to end the weekend). This week’s word is “clean” chosen by friend and twitterer KyleWhoDigs, who also happens to be the proprietor of ThoseWhoDig, and as someone who frequently mentions digging various things, I support you checking out their site. Now onto the good stuff. Here are the best “clean” tunes we found this week.
What better way to start things out than a funky and synthy electronic instrumental track? This one is from BRASSICA aka London’s Michael Wright and there are just so many great things about this track. It kind of sounds like it could be played during the closing credits of some sort of futuristic indie flick. Or like Tron Jr or something like that. It’s a cool track. “Clean With Me” will be released as a 12″ in the next few weeks here in the states.

Next up is “Pollution Shampoo” from Coyote Clean Up, who just so happens to be from right here in the metro Detroit area! So that’s pretty awesome. This tune is sort of like a hazy slowed down house track or something. I don’t really know how to describe it, but I like it, and I didn’t even know it was local when I decided that I liked it, so now I liked it even more.

Here’s another super awesome electronic track entitled “Clean Team” (not to be confused with CreamTeam that’s not quite 8-bit, so maybe we’ll call it 16-bit, from France’s Debmaster. He released a free album last year entitled Grossmutter and the whole album can be downloaded for free right over here if you’re digging what you hear. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me, which you didn’t, but you didn’t have to, cuz this is my website.

So, as it turns out, this week we didn’t find a super old tune that we really liked as we normally do with this segment. BUT, we did find a tune from 2006 that sounds like it could have been wildly successful in the mid-80s new wave movement. Enter Sweden’s Nicolas Makelberge (boy do I love some good Swedish music) and his tune “A Clean City” to save the day. We think this counts, because it’s a super awesome tune that sounds like it could have been 20 years old (that’s not a dig, I’m sure he did that on purpose). Either way, enjoy this tune until next week when we meet again (for this segment….our regularly scheduled programming will still be here each and every day).
