One of the more exciting up and coming DJs that I’ve been keeping my musical eye on is the UK’s Orlando Higginbottom, better known as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or TEED for short). I just think his tunes have such an understated energy about them that doesn’t smack you right in the face even though you know its there, because it doesn’t have to. And now the latest in his string of pretty great singles is “Trouble”, officially released via itunes on May 2, but an edited version is available now for streaming on Soundcloud. This tune is slightly more in your face than his other tunes like “Household Goods” and “Garden” but there’s still something distinctly TEED about it. The way his beats are put together just always sound really fresh to me and this is no exception. There’s kind of an updated 8-bit (perhaps 16-bit) sound that he uses really well. In a perfect world, TEED will decide to play a show in London/Barcelona this summer while I’m in those places so that I can attend said show.
PS. This is an edit so it sorta just fades out at the end, but I don’t think thats the real ending.
