Last year, to celebrate our one year anniversary, we made this Blogwave Summer mixtape where we asked a bunch of bloggers to send us a summer song and then we turned it into a mix. It went so well that we decided to do it again this year to celebrate our second anniversary. Well, the second anniversary isn’t technically until next week, but I have no patience when it comes to anything so it’s nearly impossible for me to sit on a completed mix like this for a week and a half. So, uh, happy Monday?

This type of mix is great for a couple of reasons. First of all, since the only theme is summer (Techincally, I asked each person to send me the song that they thought would be their summer jam this year) and summer means something different to everyone, you’re sure to get a nice and diverse mix of songs. But even more importantly, since I only picked one song on this mix, if you think it sucks, then you can’t really blame me. Isn’t it great how that works? But I don’t think you’ll really have much of a problem with any of the 23 songs on this mix. Yes, that’s right, 23 songs picked by 23 blogs (I’m sure you’ll recognize a good deal of names on the list) all wrapped into one mix that’s just under 65 minutes in length. My amateur skills mean that this isn’t really a mix, so much as it is a series of convenient spots for one song to stop and the next to begin. And sure, there are lots of janky/awkward song placements that just don’t make sense or work, but that’s the fun of DIY project, isn’t it?

Listen to the mix below and click on that little download arrow in the soundcloud player to get the mix for yourself!

Special thanks to all the blogs who participated. Check out the full list below. Could this possibly be the most impressive/awesome list of blogs to ever have participated in one project such as this? Probably. And thanks to Dev for sending me the cover image when I didn’t feel like looking for one and turned to the twitter for help. And thanks for continuing to visit us, even if you don’t.

Any chance of uploading the zip with all separate files?

ive decided not to do so. you can all get the tunes on your own if you so desire, and it goes against the idea of a mix. sorry!

Zip-file with single tracks, would be nice. Especially for the iPod…

Please make a zip download available. I know it goes against the idea of a mix, but at the same time it will make your viewers happy and much easier to listen to an individual song. I appreciate your hard work in making this mix!

thanks for the props! i guess my point is i dont want to supply the individual tracks esp since a few are on major labels. and i think we can all find the individual tracks elsewhere if we want to listen to them. sorry!

I’m SO SO SO happy to see this mix!
I am still jamming to VOL 1 one year on like I downloaded it yesterday.

I don’t like listening to one big MP3 spec if its over 20 mins but I understand your reasons.

Will give the mix a miss but I’ll make sure I download a few off the individual MP3′s from the list.

    Thanks Man.

    Just properly listened, fucking amazing!

Took me a long while but I managed to collect all the MP3′s.

    Thanks again so much man.

AHHHHH!!!!!! SO excited to listen to this!

My only gripe is that Two Door Cinema Club’s “Something Good Can Work” is on it again (maybe implement a policy of no song repeats from mix to mix?). Luckily I have 22 new songs to obsess over :)

well, it is a different remix, so i guess it technically qualifies as a different song. enjoy!

Please consider doing this on a monthly basis rather than on a yearly basis :)
