It’s been a few months since we last heard from Pittsburgh’s Christopher Laufman aka Wise Blood but he’s back with a brand new track “Penthouse Suites”, our first taste of his next EP entitled These Wings set to be released on August 2nd. Everything musically that we first liked about Wise Blood is ever present in this new tune. However, the somewhat arrogant attitude found in “Loud Mouths” is replaced with a much more humble tone as Laufman sings that he’s still reaching for the top whether or not he deserves it. Or maybe I’m just totally misinterpreting his words, because if there is one thing I’m really awful at, it’s interpreting lyrics. But whether I’m right or wrong on the meaning of the song, there’s a definite sense of hope or wanting more that is a nice contrast to the Wise Blood tune that we heard. I like it either way and am looking forward to hearing the rest of These Wings once the opportunity presents itself.
