YOU GUYS! I’m the worst. With all the excitement around Blogwave Summer Vol. 3 last week (most of the excitement coming from myself), I was kinda thinking, hey, maybe I’ll start posting more than once a week here. And then the craziest week ever happened and I’m finally sitting down and relaxing for the first time in days. So anyway. I decided today was a nice day to go through all of those songs on Twitter that I had favorited so that I could revisit them later, and one of the first ones I clicked on was this tune by Jessie Ware. To be honest, I only favorited it because it said “produced by Sampha” and as you might know, I’m mildly/strongly obsessed with that bro. And then I was kinda like, why does Jessie Ware’s voice sound so familiar? And the reason is because she provides the vocals on SBTRKT’s “Right Thing To Do”. Because in the end, it all ties back to SBTRKT somehow, right? Anyway, this tune is a cover of Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Don’t Do For Love”, a song which I admittedly have never heard, but Ware’s powerful and soulful voice on top of Sampha’s beats and backup vocals makes for one delicious track. LDN killin it.
