Plucked from my twitter stream courtesy of The Leaving Scene, this fantastic little number from Booddha just kinda made my Tuesday night. “Never Expected” is the B-side to the also wonderful “Intense”, also included below for your listening pleasure. Don’t know scheisse about Booddha except that he’s from Amsterdam (not to be confused with Hamsterdam), but I dig what he does with sounds.

Last year’s clear outlier in my favorite albums last year was probably Siriusmo’s Mosaik. I guess I didn’t realize how heavy that album was at first, but when I played it poolside for my friends expecting everyone to go crazy over it, they were kinda like “it was OK, but a little too heavy for me.” But I guess it was and I liked it anyway. This new track from Mouse On Mars gives me those same feelings of “different than what I would normally like but still really awesome.” Or maybe I’m just associating the two as they are both on Monkeytown Records.

Remember a few weeks ago when we told you to go download that free Beat Culture album Tokyo Dreamer and listen to it asap? I know most of you haven’t done that, but you still should. Sunik Kim is already back on the scene with a new track, this time featuring the vocals of the lovely Steffaloo who we’ve heard from so many times in the past. The water theme carries through to this 6+ minute track that’s a part of the LYFSTYL compilation Dreams which you can also pick up for free right over here. Moral of the story is, we still really like Beat Culture. That was a lot of linkage. But it’s all worth it, kids.

Trippple Nippples might be one of the more interesting band names I’ve heard recently, but they are from Tokyo, so it kinda makes sense. And Oli Chang has masterfully remixed their tune “Golden Road” and created this picturesque video depicting the snowy Japanese landscape. If you’ve heard any of the other Trippple Nippples tunes, this one’s not so in your face, so soak it in. And if you like it as much as we do, hit up the Soundcloud below for a free download.

Taking cues from fellow Brits James Blake and Jamie xx, Ifan Dafydd has recently released his two track Treehouse EP and I like it quite a lot. I’m kind of sick so can’t think of anything else to say right now, but just watch the video below and like it, k?

I’m really digging this Porcelain Raft album. A lot of the Strange Weekend songs give me this 90s nostalgic feel, but only the best parts of the 90s. A few songs are very reminscent of The Bends-era rock among many other familiar sounds. As much as I hate “sounds like” stuff, I feel like this sound is often some strange sort of Devotchka/Gorillaz hybrid. And, dare I say “If You Have A Wish” opens with a very Bjork-esque beat. Many of the songs also have that great quasi-wall-of-sound thing going on too, something I tend to appreciate.

The Söderberg sisters look barely old enough to drive but the maturity of sound and emotion heard on First Aid Kit’s album, The Lion’s Roar, suggests an age they are not. The Swedish duo, replete with American folk and country influence, have triumphed in their sophomore effort as they beautifully croon out poignant lyrics. The chorus to track “Emmylou” pines “I’ll be your Emmylou, and I’ll be your June . If you’ll be my Gram and my Johnny, too.” Pretty darn perfect.

Editor’s note: Thanks to contributor Krissi for this post. Also, Sweden is so good at music, all kinds.

Don’t be scared away by the warthog farm-esque first few seconds of “To Be With You Everywhere”, a track from Exeter‘s just released Treads (available to listen to in full and purchase here), for it will soon blossom into a weird and enjoyable mix of lo-fi, hip hop beats, and delicious glitchy glitch. #onesentenceposts
