bad veins – dry out

Today marks the start of a 10 stop tour for Cincinatti band Bad Veins, made up of Benjamin Davis and Sebastian Schultz, along with Scotland’s We Were Promised Jetpacks. I first told you about Bad Veins back in September when I posted their beautiful tune “Go Home” (also reposted below), which just grabs you from the first notes, and today I’ll share with you “Dry Out”, a song that reminds me a bit of The Strokes.
The tour kicks off in NYC at the Bowery Ballroom. The rest of the tour dates are as follows:
2.11 – The Bowery Ballroom – New York, NY
2.12 – First Unitarian Church – Philadelphia, PA
2.13 – Rock and Roll Hotel – Washington, DC
2.14 – The Middle East – Cambridge, MA
2.15 – The Knitting Factory – Brooklyn NY
2.17 – Casbah @ The Tremont Music Hall – Charlotte, NC
2.18 – The Masquerade – Atlanta, GA
2.19 – The End – Nashville, TN
2.20 – Maxine’s Pub – Hot Springs, AR
2.21 – Hailey’s – Denton, TX
I’ve heard nothing but great things about these guys live, so make sure to check them out if they are coming to a venue near you. Sadly there is no Detroit tour stop but I’m sure I’ll be catching these guys live some time in the near future. In the meantime, enjoy the two tracks below.

bad veins – go home

im going to keep todays post short and sweet, mostly because i cant really find a ton of info about todays band, bad veins. their website is nothing more than a link to buy their debut album. and their myspace told me that theyre from cincinatti. theres a bit more of a bio on their dangerbird records page, which told me that theyre the duo of benjamin davis and sebastien schultz thats been around since 2006 but just put out their self-titled debut album earlier this summer. and theyve gained a ton of acclaim over the past few years solely from their live shows. theyre playing at the lager house here in detroit in a few weeks, so i may have to try to hit up that show.
i havent heard the full album yet, but “go home” is a song that made the dailybeatz list of upcoming tracks the first time i heard it. theres just something really unique about this song. even from the opening seconds of the song, the electronic beat catches your ear, but its really more of slow song. as the song continues, layers of song are continuously added. and just when you forget how the song began, all the layers are removed and youre left with the same opening beat that you started with, this time with a nice saxophone to drag you a bit further into the sonic bliss.
