Don’t know if you’ve picked up on it lately, but I’ve been getting increasingly lazy with talking about the songs I post. I guess it’s because I’ve been running out of things to say about them, or that I found myself saying the same thing about every song all the time. Plus, I think it’s important for the songs to speak for themselves so that your opinion is not tainted before you even give it a listen. And you better believe that I’m pretty good at tainting people’s opinions on a lot of things. That being said, here’s a great jam that arrived to me via inbox. Smokey Robotic‘s tune was given a great remix treatment by Vancouver’sData Romance (a rare male/female electronic duo, pictured above) in a pretty big way. The original had all the synth and beats to make a good tune on its own, but it wasn’t quite ready to wedge its way into any serious dance party playlists until now. The Miike Snow “Animal”-esque chord progression really comes into its own after the Data Romance treatment, and the newly designed chorus makes it impossible to stand still.
And just to sweeten up the pot even more for me personally, as soon as this great tune finished playing, the next song in my itunes began – the fantastic Breakbot remix of “When We Were Young”, which was immediately followed by the timeless “Mother Lover”. Wins all around.
