Earlier this week I went to my favorite Wednesday night vinyasa yoga class. The music in this class is usually pretty good, but on this day, it was well above average, especially the string of 5 or 6 synth-heavy tunes that went along with the first flow. This one from FM Attack was my favorite of the bunch, but I made sure to get the names of all the others as well. And of course one track at the end for the cool down.

FM Attack – A Millon Miles Away

CFCF – Raining Patterns

Anoraak – Nightdrive With You (Fear of Tigers Remix)

Mike Monday – When The Rain Falls

Another month in the books for us, and another great month it was. A few great shows by Foals and Klaxons closed out the month and got me warmed up for the live music madness that is to come in October and into November. Here are your favorite tunes from the past month. This month, Anoraak took the top spot on the non-existent charts with his Neon Indian remix, and with good reason. Good work on listening to good songs.

Neon Indian – Psychic Chasms (Anoraak Remix)

Fear of Tigers – I Can Make the Pain Disappear

Fear of Tigers – I Can Make the Pain Disappear (Monsieur Adi Remix)

Groove Armada – I Won’t Kneel (Bloody Beetroots Remix)

Big Boi – Lookin For Ya (feat. Andre 3000 & Sleepy Brown)

It’s been a long time coming, far too long in fact (hey, I’m a busy guy, I can only do so much), but last night I finally gave a listen to the Fear of Tigers album Cossus Snufsigalonica after first hearing “The Adventures of Pippi Longstrum” so many moons ago. And alls I can say is that Mr. Benajmin Berry really knows what’s up. I’m going to have to try to work out a way that we can go to some club on EuroSpringBreak2011 and get the DJ to play the entire larger-than-life album from front to back. If the French Touch thing isn’t for you, however, (which would be a shame) then make sure to check out the slowed down but always excellent Monsieur Adi remix. Because the only thing better than one great producer is two great producers. And to all of you DJs out there, if you aren’t currently dropping “I Can Make the Pain Disappear” into your sets, you should probably consider it for some instant dance crowd love.

Despite hailing from the UK, it almost seems as though Fear of Tigers, aka Benjamin Berry, should have hailed from France. After all, they seem to have perfectly encapsulated that French Touch sound that so many of us have grown to love. It’s OK to click on that link. I didn’t know what it was either until my friend Louis told me, but I think he’s spot on in his comparisons. “The Adventures of Pippi Longstrump”, not to be confused with the other Pippi, is a perfect example of that French house sound made popular in the late 90s in France, perhaps most famously by Daft Punk. Regardless of how we agree or disagree to label this track, I think we can all agree that it’s fun as heck and makes us want to twist and shout a little bit. So hit play, and get ready to wish that the work day was over so the party can get started. Or if you’re already partying, get ready for the party to get better. Although it would be a little weird if you were reading music blogs while you were at a party, but I don’t judge.
