I’m sure you’ve heard the news, but Cudderisback. That’s right, KiD CuDi (whose use of capitalization reminds me of the AOL profiles of all my friends when I was in sixth grade) has finished up his new album Man On The Moon II: The Legend of Mr.Rager and while it’s not released until November 9, like so many other albums (read: almost every other album ever), it’s hit the web a little bit early. But while some musicians choose to lose their shite when this happens, Cudi has put up a post on his website entitled, “How I feel about the leaks” which simply has a video of a live MC Hammer performance of “It’s All Good”. Coincidentally the album leaked on the same day as the release of the latest Kanye West G.O.O.D Friday release “The Joy” which just so happens to feature KiD CuDi, for whatever that’s worth. On to the track, which features Cee-lo (who may or may not be having the best year ever since the release of “Fuck You“, the world’s most universally loved track of all time) and I dig it hard. And with a super catchy chorus that sounds extremely familiar for some reason, so eloquently crooned by Cee-Lo, its classic Cudder, and pretty much the perfect tune to open up an album.

KiD CuDi – Scott Mescudi vs. The World (feat. Cee-lo)

This song has nothing to do with anything above, but it came on my iTunes right after the track above and I forgot how much I loved it, so I figured it was worth posting again. So that’s what I’m doing.

Kid Savant – Better Side of Paradise

There seems to be a fantastic trend lately of purty female rising stars covering songs originally by men. This time, it’s the beautiful Lissie with a powerful cover of Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness”. I first heard this mp3 and was thrilled to find out there was a video of this performance, which gives us a chance to talk about a few non music related things I love about Lissie. 1. Her small town girl good looks and personality. 2. The shot of tequila she takes before singing her song. 3. She lists “porches” and “corn hole” among her influences. I, too, love porches and the greatest tailgate game ever, and I also enjoy tequila (unlike so many of my friends who have all had an awful night with it). And with my small town good looks and musical background, I think we were made for each other.

Check out her excellent performance in the video and then snag up the mp3 below if you dig it as I do.

its become abundantly clear to me that ive been grossly neglecting the hip hop world. on that note, id like to officially declare this entire week HIP HOP WEEK! are you so excited that youre lizzing right now? me too. this week should be full of twists and turns, including our very first in what will hopefully become a quasi-regular influx of guest writers.

i definitely dont listen to as much hip hop as some other types of music, but that doesnt mean i dont like it. on that note, im going to try to make an effort to post some hip hop tunes a little more often, starting today with a track by chiddy bang out of philly, as their website name suggests. chiddy bang is made a duo comprised of chiddy and xaphoon jones, and they are two 19 year olds who some believe are on the verge of blowing up in 2010.

i was sent their new three-song EP “the opposite of adults” recently and my favorite track was this one, “sooner or later” (although the title track, which samples mgmts “kids”, is a close second). i like when a few different genres can be combined into one song ,which is maybe why im liking kid cudi so much, since he is clearly in touch with his indie rock side as well as his hip hop side, and i feel like chiddy bang could be headed in the same direction. and if this wasnt hip hop enough for you, im expecting my official first guest post soon which should have some more classic hip hop flavor, but hey, im trying.

chiddy bang – sooner or later

before you depart today, id like to request your assisstance in helping out a great charitable organization, and all it takes is 30 seconds of your time. a friend of mine is a director with the generation project which allows donors to design educational opportunities for children living in poverty — anything from sports programs to essay contests, art classes and everything in between. the organization is currently in the final 100 organizations in the chase community giving program (which many of you may have seen on facebook) and it would be great if you could all take a few moments to vote. its free, and no spam/registration is required. just click here, click “allow”, click “become a fan”, and then click “vote”. its that simple. voting ends 1/22 so get those votes in and thanks in advance!

i know what youre thinking. “really? another day n night remix? really?” well, this one is way better than any other one youve ever heard, thanks to san frans own party ben. that is, of course, unless youve heard this one before. in that case, it will be probably just as good as the best one youve ever heard. this post is also in honor of tonights kid cudi show in ann arbor, that i decided a week ago i wanted to go to and was sold out. i searched the web for a press contact, but my efforts were fruitless. so this is all i got, but its pretty sweet. especially if you love funky disco beats.

i believe this is actually more of a mashup than a true “remix”, but thats getting a little techincal for what we are all about here. the other half of the mashup is “shame” by evelyn “champagne” king. the best part is definitely when the saxomophone kicks in. im actually looking forward to busting this one out at the next party, which hopefully will be a roller disco party.
