Tampa producer Luminary Youth has recently released a brand new totally free EP entitled Weekend Dreams. The title pretty accurately sums up the sounds of the EP, which is made up of a combination of his own sample based glitch-hop tunes and some really awesome reworks of some really awesome songs. My favorite of these tune was his rework of “To The Lighthouse” by Memoryhouse which he calls “Jets to Bangalore”, in which he takes the song into some sort of interdimensional outer spacey place that just works so perfectly well with the distinct vocals of singer Denise Nouvion. He also has some pretty nice reworks of some of our other indie likes, namely Warpaint and Cults, the latter of which you will also find below. And his original tunes are pretty funky fresh as well. Hit up a few of the tracks below and if you like what you can hear, you can listen to and download the whole EP (not to mention his 2010 EP Paper Constellations for free over at his bandcamp page.

I’ve only just recently become enamored with Sun Airway and their creativity, both musically and visually, especially after I saw some videos of their live show. They tweeted yesterday that some late April shows were coming up and when I questioned if Detroit was a stop, they responded “maybe somewhere nearby…” which I hope means Ann Arbor and not Chicago, but we will see. And then came along this excellent remix of “Early Morning Fog Bank” by Seven Saturdays aka Jonathan D. Haskell, who will be releasing their Secret Things EP at the end of March. There’s a pretty killer roster of remixers and both of the two I’ve heard thus far (and both of which you can hear below) are pretty fantastic. Aside from the aforementioned tune and the Memoryhouse remix of “Au Revoir”, there are also remixes by Teen Daze, Houses, White Sea and Millionyoung. And that’s a pretty good roster of people who pretty consistently put together pretty great remixes, so I’m pretty much looking forward to hearing the rest of it. I mean, I’m still waiting to hear a Teen Daze remix that I haven’t loved. The Sun Airway remix starts out all choppy and French, but then about a minute and a half in, the real juicy stuff kicks in and it becomes some typical Sun Airway goodness. And the Memoryhouse remix is beautiful from start to finish, just as to be expected, but it too takes a turn in its latter parts as a swirling children’s chorus enters and the tempo picks up a little bit. I have a feeling that this Seven Saturdays EP is going to be pretty fantastic all the way around.

Slam dunk. That’s what this remix is. Millionyoung, whose name I always confuse with Memoryhouse, has remixed…uh…Memoryhouse. But it is the most natural of fits. I would say that both of these groups/acts are among those that I hear the most often but haven’t really given good listens to, but I think that’s about to change. Sometimes I hear a song and within the first 5 seconds I’m already thinking “me love you long time” and this is one of those tunes. If you’re into the chilled out electro with a good beat that we tend to gravitate towards so often, you are going to love this one. But most of you have probably already heard it. But if you haven’t, then you heard it here FIRST.
