Without a doubt, one of my favorite remixes this year is definitely Pnau – With You Forever (FM Attack Remix). I’d been waiting to hear a little more from FM Attack, aka Vancouver’s Shawn Ward, and now my wait is over, at least temporarily. You see, he’s done a remix of “Looking at the Stars” by Sally Shapiro that is pretty much everything I love about FM Attack. If you are unfamiliar with Sally Shapiro, she’s a Swedish songstress who dabbles in the disco/dance/synth/pop genres. Although, technically, Sally Shapiro is made up of Sally Shapiro and DJ Johan Agebjörn. Sally Shapiro released an album last year entitled My Guilty Pleasure and the album has now been remixed by a variety of artists, so that’s where you can find this track. I think Mr. Ward told me via Facebook message a while back that he was working on an album, so let’s hope that is still happening and that it sees the light of day soon.
I wonder what new genre we can come up with to describe FM Attack. Chillhouse? Trancewave? Whatever we want to call it, it pretty much rules the school.
