I guess I didn’t really know it before, but based on how much good scheisse has been making its way into my ears from the Shinichi Osawa camp lately, I think I might be a big fan of his. One of his latest offeringss was the “Zingaro” single, released by Southern Fried Records with some killer remixes by The Kids are Radioactive, LightsoverLA and this great gem from Fabian. As expected from Osawa, the original version of this track is really upbeat and fun, but Fabian, straight outta the city of angels, kind of just takes it to a whole new level. The biggest change was taking this song into a 6/8 time signature which really just gives it a completely different feel that just sounds really fresh. I am a strong proponent of the 6/8 time signature and I feel it is grossly underutilized in music and in life. If you dig it nearly as much as I do, you can buy the track right over here on Beatport. I also just purchased my 2011 Coachella ticket, and this makes me feel as though Shinichi Osawa would be a wonderful mid-afternoon addition to the Sahara Tent.

Shinichi Osawa – Zingaro (Fabian Remix)

Just last week, Shinichi Osawa put together a fantastic summer mixtape for one of the best music sites out there, Too Many Sebastians, and one of the greatest parts about the mix is that it covers so many different styles of music. The first track on the mix is Osawa’s take on one of our favoritest tracks of all time, the achingly beautiful “These Days” by Velvet Underground partner in crime Nico. Her unmistakable voice (memorably and admirably covered by St. Vincent on her last tour) makes this track what it is, but a few Osawa beats don’t hurt a thing. Make sure to head over to TMS and check out the whole mixtape here, because this track is even better in the context of the mix as a whole.
